Youth Mini Grant
The St. Louis Mental Health Board provides $500 Non-competitive Youth Mini Grants to youth groups in the City of St. Louis. These projects are youth-directed only.
What does the St. Louis Mental Health Board means by youth-directed mini grant projects?
Research informs us that the more young people own the process and the outcomes, the higher their level of participation in a given activity. The more voice and choice they have, the more skills youth learn and will use when given opportunities for to show their leadership. We expect youth to be involved in the planning, implementation and summation of their mini grant project. Conversely, adults should limit their roles to advise and point out options but focus more on supporting the youth in their decisions. When the St. Louis Mental Health Board makes its individual site visits, these are the areas that will be explored with the youth participants.
